Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis are the two main forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, affecting more than 300,000 people in the UK. Lots of information can be found online, but this involved searching across multiple websites, a lot of which hadn’t been updated for a long time.
Working with the IBD nurses at the Bradford Royal Infirmary we came up with a plan. Patients were asked what information they found difficult to find, and how the NHS could help. We invited patients to attend a presentation outlining our plans for a dedicated website. With more feedback we added patient stories, information leaflets to download and links to important resources helping those living with the condition find vital information quickly and directly from the National Health Service.
